Best of today!

I realize that this idea is worth a separate blog and one page would soon be inefficient to hold the daily posts. Please click here to be routed to the new location. Thanks for reading !

There is one thing common between the Indian cricket team and ideas – they strike when least is expected of them! One such idea struck me yesterday and I thought its worth to put it to action.

Our days are full of observations, experiences, thoughts and actions; but what most of us carry in our mind as we go to bed is mixture of a pending work item, a mail from the boss, a grudge against somebody, a bad feeling towards some news etc. Now, think about it – of the 24 hours that you spend daily, is this experience that you would like to retain and carry to bed? I decide against it.

Hence, I came up with this page that I would populate daily before I go to bed. Here I would write the best thing that I saw, heard, read or experienced in the day! It may have happened to me or to anybody around, but if it’s something that made me feel good, I would write about it! What inspires me more is the fact that this exercise would keep prompting me to look for positive things around me every day!

I write this note with clogged nose and heavy eyes..no its not that I am sick, its the effect of best of today.

I got completely drenched in rain today! I know for most it can never be the best thing happening in day, but for me it is. I have always loved the rains. During the college days, I had this habbit of getting out on my bike as soon as I heard the pitir-patter with a bunch of like-minded folks. Today, was very different! As the years have passed by I have grown more cautious, watchful and one can say 'boring' :P

I was just out of office today when it started to drizzle. That feeling of tiny water droplets caressing your face as you ride a bike is something that can only be experienced first hand! I was enjoying that pleasure and thought of carrying on a while longer when it started to pour heavily. The dormant rain-lover in me came to fore and I decided to keep riding my bike. Trust me, it was raining really heavy and I had half my wheel under water many times but then I was enjoying it all! So much so that I even forgot about the backpack I was carrying with my official laptop and two cell phones. The fist thing I did once I reached home was to ensure these devices are in working condition - thankfully they are!

A hot tomato soup and some snacks made for the excellent company. I forgot to mention the all RED eyes I had as I reached back - reason? hit they took from the water drops :P So let me get some rest for the eyes. Will write again tomorrow! Cya!

Midnight

Okay! Time for the best of today - the first one. What a start this post has got. In a world full of hatred, violence, indifference and intolerance I read about an incident that made my day!

In a remarkable show of brotherhood, a Gurudwara in Uttarakhand allowed muslim brothers in the locality to offer prayers for Eid in their premise. As per the report, it rained heavily and there was no place for such a huge gathering in the village as the usual place of worship was innundated in water. The sikh priest then in his nobel gesture allowed for the Eid prayers to be held within the premise of Gurudwara.

In my personal opinion there is just one God and it doesnt take a lot to realize it. Muslims call him by the name of Allah and realise it with 'Shahada' and Guru granth sahib reiterates the same thoughts when it teaches "Aval allah noor upaya, kudrat ke sab bande. Ek noor te sab jag upjeya kon bhale ko mande".

May we see many more such incidents in our lifetime. Let sanity prevail!
