My Songs

I just love to sing!

I don't really remember when I started developing this hobby, but a rough guess would be around my 10th grade. I recall with faded memories that I tried to sing on a few occasions at School and did a decent job. We did have a formal music teacher in those days but I was too carefree to bother about such formal way of learning music. I was still very fond of music and the Walkman was among my most endearing possessions those days.I surely got better at singing during the undergrad days, and that is when I did sing a lot on stage and otherwise.I met a few brilliant singers during the college days - a few from the senior batch and also some batch mates - we often used to sit and hum along the canteen or galleries and stages at times!

Like it happens with most, I lost touch with this hobby after getting into the corporate world. However, if you love music it never gets out of you! I did keep crooning to myself often and singing songs while zapping along my bike is still a habit!

It was in Hyderabad when the engine restarted ! I met Ankur, a dear friend from the school days and found that he has become quite good at guitar! We decided to bear each other's practice sessions and started jamming. The best part about our jamming sessions was - he concentrated only on guitar and me only on vocals - still one could pick if there was any deviation when the other was performing. We had very crude technology to begin with and we started with just a chat mic and a webcam, but gradually the learning curve intervened and we got better with our techniques. Below are few of the songs that we recorded and loaded on YouTube. It would be amazing to recall and write little about them as I post them here.

Tere Naina - Originally sung by Kailash Kher - Cover version

'Tere naina' was the last song that we recorded before I moved to Chennai. A beautiful song by Kailash Kher. I had not heard of this song before Ankur forwarded the link saying that we should try this. I listened to it and instantly fell in love with its melody! We decided to give it a try and finished this recording in just 20 mins or so - our fastest ! It was recorded on a Handycam and hence is of much better quality as compared to a few previous recordings we did. Due to the constraints of time and expertise we did not want to tweak the original recordings but for this song we also wanted to have some echo effect on the vocals.. we adapted an age old technique :D See if you can find it by watching the video ! ;)

Dil to Bachha hai ji!

Chingari koi bhadke..

Bin Tere...

Ae khuda, mujhko bata..

Tu jaane na..

Give me some sunshine!
